First transplant patient's recovery amazes doctors

THE world's first whole eye transplant patient has stunned surgeons with his remarkable recovery.

Army veteran Aaron James, 47, lost his left eye and most of his face after it touched an electrical cable three years ago.

In May last year, he had operations lasting 21 hours involving more than 140 medics to replace his face.
