Wallyford Rose FC - which includes four players with autism - attempted to register in a grassroots league in April, months before the SFA's new Comet system was introduced.

But red tape and delays with the new computer registration system has meant players were still not officially recognised.

A match the club played on unregistered Tuesday with the players has been declared void by the South East Region Youth Football Association, which was angry the East Lothian club had gone ahead with the game.

That decision wiped out an unlikely 4-3 win by the new team against rivals from Bonnyrigg Rose in the fourth division. The club was warned not to go ahead with a second match tomorrow.

Wallyford's chairman, Darren Knight, said: "The boys were ecstatic to win their first match and then so deflated to be told the result had been voided by the league.
