RANGERS legend Paul Gascoigne has opened up on his "nightmare" battle with alcohol.
The former England star told how he had become a "loner" after people shunned him because of his drinking.
In an emotional interview with fellow former footballer Vinnie Jones, Gazza admitted he can't stop drinking once he starts.
The 56-year-old has undergone several spells in rehab in a bid to quit booze.
Speaking on Jones' new TV series, Vinnie Jones in the&nbsp;Country, he said: "The thing is once I start, that's it, I can't stop&nbsp;It's a nightmare.
"It wasn't so much the drink, it was the consequences. God, f***ing hell, the consequences.
"The thing is, when you're in it, you're in it. A nightmare. And then you become a loner, no one wants to speak to you."
Gazza said he now seeks solace by indulging in his&nbsp;passion for fly fishing. He added: "This is the only sport that takes your mind away from everything. You've got to keep busy."
Former Wimbledon hardman turned movie star Jones, 58, who has also battled alcohol addiction, said: "The thing is we both have an illness.
"I have managed to keep a lid on mine and he falls to the sword sometimes. It's a disease.
"I see a lot of Gazza in me. He's like a younger brother."
