Elizabeth "Elsie" Alexander, 89, died after the two-vehicle crash on Bellsdyke Road in Larbert, near Falkirk, on Tuesday involving a Toyota Aygo and a Volkswagen Golf.
Elsie, the driver of the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement through Police Scotland, her family said: "A much loved mum, gran, great-gran and mother-in-law.
"The family would like to thank family, friends and members of the public for their condolences and messages of support at this difficult time." The four occupants of the Volkswagen were taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital for treatment.
