Neil Gray said he will work with colleagues in the Scottish Government and the UK Government to look at keeping Grangemouth refinery open.
Petroineos, which owns the plant at Grangemouth, announced on Wednesday the site will stop operating in 2025 and become a fuel import terminal, with a potential loss of 400 jobs.
Gray said: "I'm looking to collaborate with colleagues across the parliament and those in the UK Government to make sure we are looking at every opportunity and avenue there might be for extending the life of the refinery."
