Unprepared learners causing huge backlog

HIKE PRICE OF FAILING ROAD TEST

DRIVING test fees could be raised for learners who have failed multiple times, a motoring research charity said.

The RAC Foundation said it would encourage them to wait until they are ready to pass, easing a test backlog that forces learners to wait "many months".

Government figures show 93,204 tests in the year to the end of March were at least the candidate's sixth bid. The success rate was just 41.4 per cent.
