A block of 31 flats across the road from Ayr's Gaiety Theatre has been named Beattie Close in honour of the Scots entertainer who died aged 93 in July 2020.
Developer Ayrshire Housing staged a public vote in association with The Gaiety to decide on a name for the building, with the public overwhelmingly voting for Beattie Close.
Beattie had a seven-decade career in TV, film, theatre, stand-up and panto. His actress daughter Maureen opened the social housing development earlier this week. She said: "The Gaiety was his favourite theatre.
