Hotel boss loses fight to prevent demolition

DEMOLITION works can restart at the historic fire-hit Ayr Station Hotel, the Court of Session has ruled.

It comes after work was halted on Wednesday following a legal challenge by the hotel's owner, Sunny Ung, known in official documents as Eng Huat Ung.

Ung accused council chiefs of demolishing the hotel, a category B listed building next to Ayr railway station, without giving him proper notice in the aftermath of last September's devastating fire.

His challenge halted work on the site for three days until yesterday's hearing in Edinburgh.
