STAV NAHMANI'S goalscoring cameo on his St Mirren debut did not surprise Ryan Strain.

The Aussie international wing-back crossed paths briefly with the striker at Maccabi Haifa and reckons when the 20-year-old Israeli is up and running he will spend the season banging in the goals for the Buddies.

Strain said: "I know how sharp he is. I did a training camp with him in Isreal and saw how sharp he is.

"It's great for his confidence that he can come on as a sub and score two goals and hopefully he'll keep banging them in.

"He's not the tallest boy but he's quick and sharp and strong for his size. Hopefully he can keep banging them in because a consistent goalscorer is what we need.
