I was obsessed with my job, politics shows.. I parked the marriage

THE former Coronation Street star who became Mayor of West Yorkshire has told how politics wrecked her marriage.

Tracy Brabin confirmed she has split from TV director Richard Platt, almost 30 years since they wed.

And the 63-year-old said: "It was very difficult to be married to me because I became a different person.

"I was obsessed with politics shows, with my job, serving my community and to be fair, I parked the marriage.

"While my husband tried to fit in and go along with it, I think, at the end of the day, I was too absent." Opening up to Loose Women's Kaye Adams on her How to be 60 podcast, Tracy insisted her marriage was not a failure.

The Labour politician said: "We were together for 30 years. We had a wonderful life of marriage and raised two amazing daughters but I'm in a different phase now.
