I was the Jeff Bezos of Bolton on £17.50 ...a week

PADDY McGuinness has gone back to the factory where he first earned a crust and recalls his meagre salary made him feel like a 16-year-old billionaire.

The former Top Gear star used to earn £17.50 cleaning the ovens in the Warburtons plant in Bolton.

And he made a grand return there, delivering flour in a lorry before taking a tour of his old haunt for the BBC's Inside the Factory.

Paddy, 51, used to give his mum Patricia some of his Saturday job earnings but with what was left over, he was cock of the walk back in 1989.

He said: "It was a lovely feeling knowing you had a tenner.

"A tenner back then in Bolton with me and my mates, I was like f***ing Jeff Bezos, you know.

"So that always gave me my work ethic because I liked earning money.

"You asked what did I buy and at that age, it was probably a pair of Joe Bloggs jeans or saving up for a good T-shirt. That is what it was like..." He continued: "It's very rare you love your job when you're 16. You're doing it for money, aren't you?

"All the lads who worked there at the time were all similar ages, so that was a good part of it. Because you'd have a laugh and you'd talk about football or whatever.
