SCOTS Tories leadership candidate Russell Findlay said he made "a bad call" by backing Liz Truss as prime minister.

The crime journalist turned politician endorsed Truss in August 2022 as she fought to be UK Conservative leader.

He lavished praise in a gushing Twitter video, saying: "In Liz we trust."

But she nearly crashed the economy and quit after 49 days, with Labour leader Keir Starmer accusing her of a "disastrous kamikaze budget that triggered chaos for millions".
