I won't let machete thug intimidate me

A WOMAN left scarred for life by a machete-wielding thug as she mourned her pet dog has vowed she won't live in fear.

Janet Collins, 49, suffered a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain after she was ambushed in Glasgow's Ruchazie earlier this month.

The mum of three was laying flowers at the site of her dog's savage killing, a year to the day, when she was ambushed on Tuesday, August 5, The Record previously reported how footage had emerged of the horror incident - that showed a hooded man swing the bladed weapon and rain hammer blows on his victim.

Janet has now exclusively told The Record how she bravely stood up to her attacker.

She said: "I was left with staples in my head, my body was bruised from head to toe and I was covered in blood but I'm not afraid. I wasn't scared at the time either. I won't let these thugs intimidate me.

"I've been scarred for life but I'm just lucky it was the blunt end of the machete. If it was the other end, I wouldn't be here to tell the tale. I would be lucky if I still had my legs.

"To come out with a machete and attack a woman in the middle of the street is not right. That kind of violence has to be stopped.
