A PENSIONER with emphysema is set to move out of his home and into his van over the cost of heating his damp house.
Charlie McPhee, 69, who is undergoing cancer tests, says the retirement accommodation he was moved to by Highland Council is not fit for purpose.
He claims his home is damp, has water leaking through his windows and he has recently received a £1000 electricity bill.
The OAP claims he has asked the council in vain for an old home back.
So now he is preparing to move out of his flat in Castletown, near Thurso, and into his van -which will be affordable and warmer.
