HEARTS boss Steven Naismith admits he wants to follow David Moyes' signing blueprint as he attempts to get a head start in adding summer reinforcements.

The Jambos secured the pre-contract captures of Motherwell captain Blair Spittal and Livingston left-back James Penrice during the international break.

That follows on from Ross County star Yan Dhanda having already agreed to move to Tynecastle this summer.

Naismith refused to be drawn on individuals but wants Hearts planning years in advance when it comes to their recruitment strategy. And he insists he is taking the lessons learned from his old Everton boss.

Naismith, whose side will attempt to increase the 11-point gap on fourth-place Kilmarnock today, said: "That's something I've been really keen to do in terms of building for the summer.

"I've probably taken it from asking a lot of managers about it. The best for me was David Moyes. The research and the homework he did on signings was massive.

"That's why he did so well, bringing guys like Leighton Baines and Phil Jagielka to them then becoming internationalists.
