GERMANY reached for the cruise control in the city that gave the motorcar to the world.

Goals from Jamal Musiala and Ilkay Gundogan lit up the stadium once named after the pioneering genius Gottlieb Daimler and sent the hosts speeding into the last 16.

Hungary made sure it wasn't quite the gentle ride Julian Nagelsmann's side were given by Scotland but Germany appear a team capable of going up through the gears.

Home fans sang "Berlin, Berlin, we're going to Berlin" and their gaffer wants to use the feelgood factor as fuel all the way to the final.

Nagelsmann said: "I won't join in the chants but the atmosphere is amazing. The fans marched past our hotel before the game and that gives us an unbelievable feeling.

"We have seen videos of fans celebrating on the streets of Hamburg and it moves you.

"The fans will dream. We want to take the people with us. But to do that, we must continue to do our job.
