She’s famed for playing strict sorceress Tissaia de Vries in Netflix’s fantasy epic The Witcher but in real life MyAnna Buring is smiley, energetic and full of enthusiasm.
With her striking looks and piercing blue eyes, it’s no wonder she gets cast playing powerful, brooding roles and MyAnna wouldn’t have it any other way.
In fact she loves playing darkly mysterious characters with shady secrets and hidden depths.
“It’s funny,” said MyAnna, “I don’t experience myself as severe, moody and strict in any way and yet my acting spirit animal slots very easily into that. I don’t know what it is but I’m very grateful for it because it’s been a ride.”
As Tassaia, MyAnna wears lavish period costumes, often in rich jewel coloured fabrics, with brutally corsetted waists, strong shoulders, full skirts and high necklines. Just slipping into Tassaia’s costume, hair and jewellery, helps Myanna transform into the commanding character.
“I adore her outfits,” added MyAnna. “Something happens when you’ve got such mastery within costume and makeup. It’s extraordinary and it does a lot of your work for you.”
