Coyle hails his Spiders for passing test of character as Morgyn own goal clinches it

OWEN COYLE insists his Queen's Park side passed their first title test with flying colours as they moved five points clear at the top.

The Spiders, chasing a third consecutive promotion, had to work hard to break down a gritty Cove side who remain embroiled in a relegation battle.

But Morgyn Neill's own goal in the 78th minute was enough for Coyle's men to deservedly seize the initiative in the title race with just eight games left and their dream of securing topflight football for the first time since 1958 is very much alive.

The gaffer said: "We are where we are on merit because we have been the best team in the league by the way we have performed.

"Performances are the key. We are pleasing on the eye and that won't change because we believe we can win games like that.

"Cove showed a lot of spirit but no one could begrudge that we deserved the three points.
