JASON'S A TOTAL BELIEVER

JASON DAY insists he's excited to be back in the Major mix and has a magic number in his mind for Hoylake glory.

The Australian has been working back towards the top of the game after a period where injury threatened his career.

Day is former world No.1 and won the PGA Championship eight years ago.

The 35-year-old's emotional success at the AT&T Byron Nelson Classic in May was a first in five years to stamp his return to the big time and it has paved the way for the next step.

Day missed cuts at the PGA and US Open but he's got a shot at Open success.

His fighting Friday evening 67 leaves him with an opportunity to mount an assault on leader Brian Harman over the closing 36 holes.

Day said: "I'm excited about it because I haven't played the Majors well this year and it's been a little bit disappointing.
