Kid car fireball payout U-turn

INSURERS have apologised to a mum over treatment of her claim after a fireball almost killed her children.

Alix Ferrie, 34, was left with a bill of more than £3000 when her Land Rover was destroyed in a freak blaze - as insurers refused to meet the sum she paid to a dealer just a few months earlier.

But after the Daily Record told how Alix's 11-month-old son Brian and four-year-old daughter Kodi were rescued from the blaze, Admiral Insurance upped their payout.

The insurance wrangle added to the trauma heaped on Alix, whose kids only survived after golfer John Mackie, 48, smashed a window and helped pull them from the car minutes before it burst into flames.
