THE naming of the King and Kate as being at the centre of the race row over Harry and Meghan's son has sparked fury.
Publishers blamed a "translation error" for their identification in the Dutch version of the book Endgame.
A Palace source said: "The Royal Family is united in outrage over this."
UNITED IN FURY
King and Kate named as 'racists'. But Palace hit back with denial. Scobie: I didn't identify anybody.
THE furore surrounding Omid Scobie's book about Harry and Meghan reached fever pitch last night after the King and the Princess of Wales were named as the royals at the centre of racist claims.
Insiders told how the Royal Family was furious at explosive allegations that the pair made comments about the skin colour of Harry and Meghan's unborn son, Archie.
And as the scandal threatened to spark a constitutional crisis, a row broke out about how the names ended up being published "in error" in the Dutch version of Endgame.
A Palace source said: "The entire Royal Family is united in outrage over this whole episode where members of the family have been unfairly named in this way.
"There is absolute and unequivocal denial that anything said by the two persons named publicly was said, or even could be considered to be said, in a racist manner. How much more should they take?
"This is an outrageous smear that started with the Oprah [Winfrey] interview and now has blown up into another stratosphere."
Scobie blamed Dutch publisher Xander for the King and Kate's names being revealed and said an investigation has been launched by the firm.
In his first UK television interview on ITV's This Morning yesterday, he insisted: "I never submitted a book that had those names in it. But Saskia Peeters, who translated Endgame into Dutch, hit back.
