SIMO VALAKARI insists his skipper switch to Nicky Clark could be the best thing to happen to Kyle Cameron.
Clark has been officially appointed St Johnstone captain, taking over from the Notts County loan defender.
Valakari believes being the new boy AND skipper was a tough shift for Cameron as Saints struggled for form.
The new Perth gaffer has told Cameron he's still a big voice in the dressing room dynamics.
But Valakari hopes installing veteran striker Clark on a permanent basis will help take the heat off the centre half.
The Saints boss said: "I spoke to Kyle and told him that Nicky would continue.
"As I knew he would be, Kyle was very professional and he understood.
"He doesn't have to have an armband to be a leader.
"Could it help Kyle? It's a very good point.
"Talking to Kyle, when you are a loan player and captain there is no room for error.
