Val left work feeling ill in November 2020 and has been unable to return.
As well as battling the effects of the virus, she has been left penniless and had to sell her two-bedroom flat and move into a one-bed council property.
While the Scottish Government gave all NHS workers full pay if they were off because of Covid for two years, that ended and workers reverted to their original sick pay contract a few months ago.
Valerie said: "I am hoping I will get some kind of benefit but no-one has been able to help me with that.
"It is the first time in my life I have ever been unemployed."
