The 31-year-old saw her Scottish women's 800 metres record snaffled away by former training partner Jemma Reekie at the Diamond League leg in London.

It was a race to make the world take notice with Keely Hodgkinson lowering her own UK record to 1:54.61 to underline her credentials for gold —with Reekie a second behind after shaking off a bout of Covid to unleash her top form.

Second and fourth in Tokyo three years ago, there could be even more to come this time around with teen sensation Phoebe Gill rocketing from nowhere this year to become a contender as well.
