THE Government has been accused of putting a plaster on a gushing wound over its efforts to ease the mortgage crisis.

MORTGAGE DEAL BRANDED 'STICKING PLASTER'

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt thrashed out a deal with lenders yesterday to give homeowners a 12-month grace period before repossessions begin.

He said people struggling to pay their mortgages will be able to discuss their options without it affecting their credit score. Those who change the length of their repayment term or switch to interest-only plans can reverse this decision within six months, also without affecting credit ratings.
