MASON GREENWOOD will not play for Manchester United again with the club looking to move him on to rebuild his career elsewhere.

An announcement from chief executive Richard Arnold at the conclusion of a six-month internal investigation said the striker would leave the club "by mutual consent".

While the club stressed they believed Greenwood had not committed the offences for which he was originally charged, they "recognise the difficulties in bringing him back into the first-team squad.

"All those involved, including Mason, recognise the difficulties with him ecommencing his career at Manchester United," said the statement.

"It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford, and we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome.
