Whyte and Mackay released a TV commercial for its whisky brand The Woodsman this year featuring beavers working by a river, chopping, sawing&nbsp;and carrying wood while jaunty music played.
It ended with the beavers sitting in a hot tub they had built while one of them raised a glass of whisky. However, the ad prompted three complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority&nbsp;(ASA) claiming using the beavers in an alcohol ad would appeal to people aged under 18.
In its defence, Whyte and Mackay highlighted that the characters were purposefully realistic, with hardened features such as "grotesque teeth and&nbsp;uneven claws". The Glasgow-based company also said the narrative of the characters being at work, undertaking outdoor woodworking in the wild, was not humourous or associated with juvenile behaviour or youth culture.
Following an investigation, the ASA agreed and refused to uphold the complaints against the advert.
