Since his diagnosis he has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and cycled back down. Jon will leave the UK on Friday for days of training at Spaceport America in New Mexico.
On August 10, he will blast off on VSS Unity, with fellow passengers including Anastatia Mayers, 18, a physics student at Aberdeen University.
