Nearly 25% still hooked in nation's poorest areas

ONE IN 10 FAIL TO KICK HABIT

HARDCORE smokers are still failing to quit despite more than 8000 annual Scots deaths from tobacco. 

And the problem is greatest among those in the most deprived areas.

Most recent data shows 11 per cent of Scots still puffing. But this rises to 24 per cent in the poorest places and is just five per cent in the most affluent.
