A BABY otter has been saved against the odds after being rescued from beside the body of its mum.
Little Linnhe was the youngest otter ever to be cared for by the Scottish SPCA.
The pup weighed just 400g when found on a road in Oban hours from death.
Linnhe was rushed to a vet and on to the Scottish SPCA's National Wildlife Centre at Fishcross in&nbsp;Clackmannanshire, where it has been hand reared in the charity's "wildlife hospital".
Now, after over two months of daily bottle-feeding, Linnhe is expected to be released back into the wild next summer.
A spokeswoman said: "Linnhe is the youngest otter that our&nbsp;wildlife hospital has ever cared for. He came in on October 1 from Oban and had been calling out for his mum for some time.
"When he, arrived his eyes were still closed and he weighed 400g. He was taken to a vet and we picked him up soon after.
"He was fed every three hours, slowly increasing the amount&nbsp;over the last few weeks. Linnhe is being cared for by our expert large mammal team until he is ready to be released back into the wild."
Otters need at least a kilo of food per day.
The animals are expert hunters but learn vital early life skills from their mothers.
