ITV bosses grilled by MPs | Fling branded 'inappropriate'

UNDER-fire ITV chiefs yesterday told MPs that Phillip Schofield and his much younger lover repeatedly denied rumours of a fling.

During the grilling in Parliament, the bosses added they did not turn a blind eye to allegations of a relationship while the pair worked together on the channel's show This Morning.

ITV chief executive Dame Carolyn McCall said the "imbalance of power" made the affair "deeply inappropriate".

She added the channel would have swiftly stopped Phillip presenting their TV programmes had any evidence of the relationship been uncovered during their reviews over several years.
