PHOEBE Waller-Bridge has called filming the new Indiana Jones movie in Scotland "amazing".

The star of Fleabag plays the archaeologist's goddaughter Helena Shaw in the fifth and final film of the franchise, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

Two years ago, parts of Glasgow were transformed into 60s New York.

Phoebe shot the film over two weeks in Glasgow - even though Harrison Ford, 80, didn't appear here.

But she is no stranger to Scotland and acknowledges the Edinburgh Fringe launched her career when she performed the first full version of Fleabag there a decade ago.

The 37-year-old writer and actress said: "I never looked back after Edinburgh. So thank you, Edinburgh. It wouldn't have happened without the city."

The first Indiana Jones film, Raiders of the Lost Ark, came out in 1981, four years before Phoebe was born. She admitted acting in the latest in the series was "a huge pinch-me moment".

She added: "We got to shoot in so many wonderful locations. Scotland was amazing.

Glasgow's St Vincent Street was transformed into 60s New York for a chase sequence where Indy is seen on horseback at a parade for the returning Apollo 11 astronauts.

Other Scottish backdrops in the film include the Leaderfoot viaduct outside Melrose.

Although she has won three Emmys, two Golden Globes and a Bafta for Fleabag - as well as scripting Killing Eve and the last Bond movie No Time to Die - starring in Indiana Jones was a dream come true.

She said: "Indy has been a part of my life most people's lives, I think - for as long as I can remember.

"I was too young to see Raiders of the Lost Ark but I was always aware of Indiana Jones.

"I remember the films always being on at Christmas.
