Police probe Old Firm ref's torrent of abuse

FOOTBALL chiefs have sent police a huge dossier documenting vile abuse aimed at Old Firm ref Kevin Clancy after last Saturday's game.

The Record understands the evidence has been handed over to cops by the SFA after Clancy was subjected to a torrent of emails, text messages, tweets and phone calls in the aftermath of Rangers' 3-2 defeat at Parkhead.

Rangers supporters reacted angrily to the official's decision to chalk off a goal by Alfredo Morelos during the first half of the match.

Clancy's personal details were then posted online, sparking an outpouring of abuse.

SFA chief executive Ian Maxwell described it as "potentially criminal in nature and included threats and abuse towards Kevin and his family".
