THE boss of the firm in charge of making Scotland's homes warmer and greener says 40,000 houses have already been retrofitted - but it's still not enough.

Ross Armstrong, CEO of Edinburghbased Warmworks, said he hopes the number of homes receiving energy upgrades will be nearly 100,000 by 2030.

Under the Warmer Homes Scotland grant scheme, the company provides means-tested help to Scots to make their homes more energy-efficient, such as cavity wall or floor insulation and double glazing.

It also installs appropriate replacements for old-school gas boilers ranging from green alternatives like heat pumps and solar to more efficient electric boilers and condensing boilers.

But Armstrong admitted progress wasn't fast enough, given the vital push for net zero as well as Scotland's fuel poverty crisis.
