SCOTLAND'S preparations for climate change are still too slow as the threat of major economic damage from extreme weather rises, a damning report has warned.
The study, by the Climate Change Committee, said more action is required to safeguard the water supply and infrastructure and protect against floods, storms and wildfires.
It found some "promising"&nbsp;developments in areas such as the NHS and transport to make Scotland more climate-resilient.
But it warned "important gaps remain", including a need to bolster defences against drought and floods - particularly after Storm Babet. It said: "This lack of&nbsp; action will put Scotland at increasing risk of damaging cascading impacts across the economy when weather extremes occur in future."
The CCC's annual findings highlighted how Babet had caused "widespread" flooding leading to "several deaths and hundreds of homes impacted".&nbsp;It's estimated the repair bill could pass &pound;500million.
The CCC also raised increasing summer heat which led to water scarcity in lochs and rivers.
Net Zero Secretary Mairi McAllan said: "We know the climate emergency is not a distant threat - that is why we are taking action."&nbsp;
