Return to Ender?

THE boss of EastEnders has hinted that more popular characters could return to Albert Square for the soap's 40th anniversary next year.

The show is known for resurrections - Cindy Beale returned last year despite her ex-husband Ian being told she died in childbirth in 1998, and Dirty Den Watts came back in 2003, 14 years after his apparent assassination.

Now executive producer Chris Clenshaw has said the BBC soap "may" bring back more characters.

He added: "It's not just because of the lovely reaction. It all depends on the story and where the characters are. As we head towards our 40th year, it is the history of the show. I think the nostalgic element means a lot.
