Rogue doc accused of harming 239 patients

ROGUE doctor Professor Sam Eljamel may have harmed more than 200 patients, a woman campaigning for a public inquiry into the brain surgeon has claimed.

Eljamel worked at NHS Tayside between 1995 and 2013, when he was suspended by the health board following three months of "indirect supervision" which followed complaints made against him.

That supervision was deemed "inadequate" in a report released this week He also faced a legal claim in February 2013 but operated on 111 patients in the six months that followed.

Jules Rose, one of his patients, has been campaigning for a public inquiry.

She said yesterday that she had not been comforted by the contents of the new NHS Tayside report.

"It's actually the opposite," she said.
