Rugby legend's love letters fit the Bill

LOVE letters from legendary rugby commentator Bill McLaren are to be made available online.

A team from Stirling University is to digitise personal documents which belonged to the "voice of rugby".

His handwritten big-match preparation charts and love letters he wrote to his wife are among the thousands of items.

McLaren, who was from Hawick, died in January 2010 at the age of 86 following a 50-year career in broadcasting. His wife Bette passed away in 2019.
