HEARTFELT tributes have been paid to a skier who died after plunging into a gully in the Cairngorms.
The family of off-piste skier Sam Burns were told of the news on Saturday, police said.
Sam, 40, from Aviemore, was described as fit and experienced.
Police earlier said they were "increasingly concerned" for Sam, who had been missing since Friday.
Brendan Hughes, president of the Inverness Backcountry Snowsports Club, told fellow members: "It is with great sadness I have to tell you club member Sam Burns lost his life while ski touring in the northern Cairngorms.
