Colin McGhee, 28, was yesterday sentenced to five years and 10 months for the attack in Greenock on September 28, 2020.
The High Court in Glasgow had earlier heard that McGhee carried out the attack at the property belonging to Craig&nbsp;McFarlane, who was later jailed for fire bomb attacks against rivals in the town.
Judge Lord Scott heard McGhee had targeted McFarlane after he and others took an unwanted "interest" in his plant machinery firm.
The court previously heard that McGhee had travelled from his home in Falkirk to the flat with&nbsp;others. A petrol bomb was hurled but failed to explode.
The BMW raced off but returned within 10 minutes.&nbsp;A window in the flat was smashed, accelerant&nbsp;poured in and set alight.
The BMW was traced and the address found on the satnav. McGhee pled guilty to wilfully setting fire to the flat, endangering the lives of McFarlane and others in the block.
