SCHOOL DRIVER PUT KIDS' LIVES AT RISK'

A SCHOOL bus driver has been slammed for "putting kids' lives at risk" after he was caught on camera using his mobile phone while behind the wheel.

Shocked pupils on the bus took pictures of Raymond McCallie clutching the device to his ear while ferrying them home from Dalbeattie Learning Campus on March 3.

The 78-year-old appeared in the dock at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Friday last week where he admitted using the phone while driving the vehicle on the A711 near Palnackie.

An angry parent told the Record that she called police after her son reported seeing McCallie take a "four-minute call" as they approached a road with "twisty corners".

The 33-year-old said: "He put every single child's life at risk on that bus.
