A SCOT leading the fight against global warming has hailed COP28 as the most important climate change summit ever.

Prof Jim Skea told UN delegates humanity faces a crisis of "unprecedented magnitude" after a year of record-smashing heat.

The 70-year-old newy elected chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, said some global warming impacts on our world were "irreversible".

The Dundonian stressed the need for action to "find immediate and deep emission reductions across all sectors".
