Warders' union in blistering attack on private prison escort company

SCOTLAND'S union has blistering attack prison warders' launched a on the country's "failing" £240million escort service.

The Prison Officers' Association (POA) blasted outsourcer GEOAmey for its "second-rate" performance, saying prison service staff were repeatedly stepping in to "pick up the slack" for the firm.

John Cairney, chair of the POA's Scottish national committee, wrote a scathing article after the service was accused of causing major delays to the legal system by the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service and the Law Society of Scotland.
