Andrew Ross's body was discovered outside an address on Ives Road in Peterhead on February 5.
The 52-year-old, who hailed from Aberdeen, left sister Kelly's house hours before he was found dead.
Kelly, 50, said the family are still struggling to come&nbsp;to terms with his loss. She said: "It's a huge shock. We are obviously heartbroken.
"He leaves behind a daughter who is only seven and a 21-year-old son.
"We were all really close and the kids loved staying with their dad. He was a doting father. His wee girl is a daddy's girl. It's so sad she'll grow up without him."
Kelly, who is recovering&nbsp;from a stroke, had Andrew as her carer. She said: "He had a heart of gold.
Ethan Carlyle, 21, and Luke Allan, 27, of Peterhead, were charged in connection with his death.
They appeared in the dock at Aberdeen Sheriff Court and each faced a single allegation of murder.
Neither made a plea and new court dates are yet to be confirmed.
