A THUG who killed a Scottish police officer in Canada by hitting him on the head with a skateboard has been jailed for five years.
Expat Allan Young died after being attacked by Alex Willness during a street disturbance in Nelson, British Columbia.
The 55-year-old, from Dumbarton, worked for the Abbotsford Police Department but was off duty when he intervened in a row in July 2020.
Willness, 29, struck Young twice with his skateboard, causing him to fall backwards and fracture his skull on the pavement. He died in hospital five days later.
Willness claimed he acted in self-defence after feeling threatened by Young but he was found guilty of manslaughter.
