SPEEDING TAXI DRIVER KILLED OAP

A TAXI driver was driving over the speed limit when he killed a pensioner outside a pub, a court heard.

Muhammad Khan claimed he did not see pedestrian Michael Slevin lying in the road before he drove over him.

After dragging Michael, 65, for around 20 yards before stopping, Khan reversed his taxi and crushed the grandfather's inert body for a second time.

Michael was given treatment at the roadside. However, doctors at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary pronounced him dead shortly after his arrival.
