THOUSANDS of bargain-hunters hit the shops across Scotland to take advantage of the Boxing Day sales.
Money savvy Scots flocked to Glasgow and Edinburgh city centres, and shopping centres across the country as retailers slashed prices.
Some items were discounted by up to 70 per cent and the hospitality sector was boosted by the increased footfall.
The splurge was expected to see £580,000 spent every minute as retailers prepared to rake in £313million in a single day.
It is believed 400,000 headed to the country’s top malls, with Braehead Shopping Centre, near Glasgow, welcoming 100,000 and the city’s Silverburn seeing 80,000 go through its doors.
