A WORLD-famous fiddler has been reunited with his violin after he turned amateur detective when it was stolen in the US.
Alasdair Fraser, 68, was devastated after thieves took the precious instrument and thousands of pounds of musical equipment from his rental car in Portland, Oregon, on November 13.
He was preparing to play a concert in the city with his musical partner, cellist Natalie Haas when the windows of their vehicle were smashed after they stopped at a restaurant for breakfast.
