Being smiled at by a stranger also made the list.
Nearly a third of adults quizzed said they made better decisions when in a more optimistic mindset.
And almost the same proportion reckon they give more time to help others when they are in a good mood.
The poll, commissioned by breakfast biscuit firm Belvita, is part of the Give a Smile campaign to fight food poverty.
Belvita aims to provide up to 125,000 meals for those in need.
Polly Bianchi, director of fundraising at its charity partner FareShare, said: "The donation of so many meals to our network will make a huge difference.
