SWEDE AND SOUR DAY

RORY MCILROY'S bid for a second Irish Open title sank in a watery grave as Swede Vincent Norrman surged through the field for his second DP World Tour win.

Norrman carded a flawless closing seven-under 65 at The K Club to finish on 14-under 274, a shot ahead of 54-hole leader Hurly Long of Germany.

Scot Grant Forrest and former champion Shane Lowry were part of a four-way tie for third on 12 under, while seventh-placed Connor Syme made it a tartan duo inside the top 10.

But Mcllroy's bid for glory sank in the drink.
